The Post Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology (PGDRPC) is regulated by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and covers important areas including disability and rehabilitation, psychosocial issues in disability, rehabilitation assessment and counselling, community-based rehabilitation, and practical training in identification, assessment and intervention. This course is offered in both Distance and Regular mode by RCI approved institutions.

It is a professional diploma programme offered by IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). The programme is designed to develop professionals who can work with individuals with disabilities through assessment, counselling, and rehabilitation services. 

The course focuses on understanding disability, psychosocial issues, rehabilitation assessment, counselling, and community-based rehabilitation.

The PGDRPC programme has:

  • Minimum duration: 18 months (1.5 years)
  • Maximum duration: 3 years

The programme follows a credit-based structure with 32 credits that students must complete during the course duration. 

Yes. The PGDRPC programme offered by IGNOU is conducted according to the norms and regulations of the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and is delivered through RCI-recognized work centres. 

This ensures that the curriculum and training meet the professional standards required in the rehabilitation sector.

Candidates must meet one of the following eligibility conditions:

• Bachelor’s degree (Regular Mode) with General Psychology as a subject in all three years, OR
• Master’s degree in any branch of Psychology (Regular/Distance), OR
• Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology (Regular/Distance)

Minimum marks requirement:

  • 55% for General Category
  • 50% for SC/ST/OBC candidates

The degree must be from a UGC-recognized university.

The PGDRPC entrance test follows a structured MCQ format:

  • Total Questions: 50 MCQs
  • Maximum Marks: 200
  • Marks per Question: 4
  • Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for each incorrect answer
  • Exam Duration: 90 minutes
  • Mode: Offline (OMR based)

No marks are deducted for unanswered questions.
